14U COVID Testing:

We are looking for 4-6 volunteers to  help out with the rapid COVID testing for 14U practices.  We are required to test all athletes ages 13-19 at least once a week at practice.  The tests are free and provided by MDHHS, however need to be administered by adults before the start of practice each week.

With practice starting at 6pm, we will be encouraging players to get to practice up to 30 minutes early to begin their COVID rapid test.  Volunteers will need to be at practice by 5:30 to begin testing for the players.  I am hoping that by players coming around 5:30, the testing won’t eat up too much practice time.  The tests take 15 minutes to get results and players are unable to begin practice until they show a negative test result.

Please let me know if you are available to help out with this task every week or every other week.  Each time we test, it is recommended that 2-3 adults are present to help with efficiency!  I plan to meet with interested volunteers to provide more information.  There are also a few online training videos that each volunteer will need to watch prior to testing athletes.

If you are able to assist with this at practices, please let me know ASAP so I am able to get you the information for the online training videos!  Also please pass this info along to anyone that may have not received it and are interested in helping!

** UPDATE 4/6: We do not yet have any tests, so we will not begin testing until we have those.  If your child has tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 3 months, they can produce a doctors note and will be exempt from testing.  Please send that doctors note to Mary Spalding (marys@cadillacareaymca.org), or drop off at the YMCA (Attn. Mary Spalding)
