DANCING WITH THE Y CAST
Hello, my name is Ashley Allen, I’m from Davison MI. I danced at the Flint School of Performing Arts for 16 years. During which studying many ballet techniques and modern dance. I've performed in many ballets and variations such as The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Don Quixtoe, La Fille Mal Gardee, Paquita, and many more. I’ve also studied with the Burklyn Ballet Theater, members of the Balanchine Trust Foundation, and toured Europe with “The Stars of Tomorrow” in 2015 and 2019. I’ve choreographed for many events such as Michigan Youth Arts, FSPAs Emerging Choreographer, FIAs Night of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, and for Burklyn Ballet. Within this year I’ve also started my teaching career at Frankenmuth Dance Directions, teaching ballet, pointe, lyrical, contemporary, and modern dance. Outside of dance I figure skate, play music, and do photography. This is my first year with dancing with the Y I am really exited!
I am native of Northern Michigan and have been dancing for eighteen years. I graduated Interlochen Arts Academy in 2014 and while there, I performed in Giselle, Swan Lake, and The Nutcracker. In addition, I have performed Martha Graham’s Panorama at the Joyce Theater in New York City and while in Paris I took company class with the Paris Opera Ballet. I currently study at the University of Michigan to earn a BFA as Dance Major with a minor in costume design. I have studied various techniques such as Humphrey Limon, Congolese, improvisation and composition. For the past six years, I have taught regionally and volunteer time to mentor and choreograph for Winter Guards in Michigan and Indiana. I hope to share my knowledge of the arts to Northern Michigan as well as continue to learn. I would like to give a special thanks to my parents and brother who have supported me throughout the years and Chandlar R. Gabara for helping me throughout this process.
I have lived in the Cadillac area for 13 years where I work as a physician at Family Practice of Cadillac. Dance has been an important part of my life since the age of three when I started taking Tap, Jazz, and Ballet lessons and continued for many years. I competed on a dance team called “The Thunderbirds” and then continued my dance training at Hope College. After moving to Cadillac, I taught ballet/hip hop for a few years but now have turned my time to helping with this event. I have been married to my husband Jason, for 24 years and have three awesome kids, Zach, Anna, and Drew. I love to choreograph and am proud to support the Y in such a fun event.
I am a former educator, which I think, give me the edge needed to win this competition. I apply many of my learned techniques into each task ahead of me. I have been part of the community of Cadillac for over a decade. Friends and family are a huge portion of my life, and my husband and son are my greatest treasures. Being able to participate in Dancing with the Y over the 4 past years has been such a great experience, and humbling at the same time. Each dance couple I help poses new opportunities to stretch me as a choreographer, and this year I expect to be just as great!
The Dancing with the Y Stars event is one of Bridget’s yearly highlights! This is her 7th year
as a choreographer. She teaches at The Landing Dance Academy and has choreographed the
last 4 Cadillac High School musicals. A graduate from CHS, she married high-school sweetheart,
David Coffey. With a BA from Western Michigan University and a minor in dance, she
spent 15 years in Metro Detroit and is happy to make Cadillac home again for the last 11
years. She is a mother to Tim, a Brevard College student, Megan, a CHS student, and a black
lab. She would like to give a special thanks to Corey and Traci for always being willing to try
new things, work hard, and share their humor during dance rehearsals!
Hannah Sengelaub has found herself calling Cadillac home for the last 7 years. Here she lives with her husband, Derek and their 9 year old son, Jude. The last 5 of those years she has been able to share her passion for dance with the students of The Landing Dance Academy. Tap dancing is Hannah's favorite, though she loves all types. She grew up in the Big Rapids area where she practically lived at her local dance studio, becoming educated in many styles. Dancing with the Y Stars is one of the things Hannah looks most forward to every year. This is her fourth year choreographing for this event. "Being able to be creative in a way that serves my community is such a beautiful experience. Every year I get to meet new inspiring people that just want to help our local youth! What's not to love?" This year she gets the pleasure of watching her husband join in on the fun, but as her competition.
Jenn Ott-Reagan is so excited to be back at Dancing with the Y Stars. She has done choreography for ballet and many musicals, so expect a little flare and sizzle in her couple’s dance steps. Jenn is enjoying the process with Miranda and Adam, but Adam “won’t stop singing,” said Jenn.
This fundraiser is close to her heart as she was the concept originator and original planner of Dancing with the Y Stars. “ I can’t believe it has lasted this long. I’m so happy that this crazy idea I had turned out to be a continuing, successful, fundraiser,” said Jenn. With that in mind, she and her dance couple must win!
Jenn is a mom of 2 teenagers, Rylie and Tommy, 3 large Labradors and a Cat.
Melissa danced and performed in her younger years, and has resurrected her love of performing
by acting, singing, dancing, choreographing and directing with the Cadillac Footliters,
Dancing with the Y Stars, and the United Way Murder Mystery. She is thrilled to be involved
with Dancing with the Y Stars again and happy to be active in organizations that help to
impact our community in a positive way.
Katy is thrilled to be a part of an evening that has become a jewel in Cadillac's crown. She is impressed every year by the effort, creativity, team work and skill demonstrated by the coaches and their dancers. Katy said, "I wish Mary Dillon could see what our beautiful YMCA has become for Cadillac. She would be amazed and proud".
My wife, Dr. Elizabeth Rzepka-Alto and I reside on Lake Cadillac with our three beautiful children. Most days I can be found in my residence (aka on my deck) handling day to day activities (aka kickin’ it in my easy chair). I proudly hold the title of ‘Super Dad’, by my four lovely ladies. When I get the chance, which is at least 3 days a week, I take a little ‘ME’ time and enjoy some pickleball at the YMCA or shooting some hoops. This is the fourth year I have been asked to Emcee the Dance with the Y event, and with such an exquisite co-host and for the great cause, I wouldn’t be in my right mind to say no. I am honored to be a part of something so great. So sit back, kick back, and enjoy the show.
