Amber Herlein

Amber is homegrown local from McBain. After starting adulthood in the city including college degrees, meeting and marrying her husband Brandon and having their first child, Amber and her husband returned home to raise their two children. Amber and Brandon have been married for six year and have two beautiful children, Porter, 5, and Reyna 3.

Amber began her professional career by earning her Master of Social Work from Grand Valley State University. Each experience of her social work career has played an integral role in her life. Amber currently serves as the Executive Director of OASIS/Family Resource Center where is she able to live out her values each day. She is a social justice seeker, an advocate by nature and a believer in people. In her free time, Amber loves to be home with her family playing games, being outside, and making memories together. She has zero formal dance experience but is an expert in kitchen dancing with her husband and kids.

Jennifer White-Seymour

Dr. Jennifer White has always enjoyed the thrill of a challenge. Thirteen years ago, she decided to sing at her wedding to Ben Seymour, even though she can’t sing. Five years ago, she became the sole owner of Brite White Dental in Manton. Three years ago, she decided to run a half marathon, even though she was always a sprinter. One year ago, she entered a fitness competition wearing a very little outfit and 5” heels, even though she loves food and couldn’t walk in heels. Because she can’t dance, entering a dancing competition seemed like the obvious next adventure. She enjoys golfing, talking dentistry online with her tribe of Mommy Dentists in Business and being involved with the Cadillac Area Women’s Giving Circle.  Jennifer also enjoys spending time with her husband, Ben, two young boys, Zach and Zane, as well as her dogs, Rhino and Emmet.

Corey Wiggins

Corey is the Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Wexford County.  Born in Cadillac, he was raised in the family Christmas tree business, which his grandfather started in 1936 and his father and brother still operate.  After graduation from Cadillac Senior High School in 1994, Corey obtained his Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Management from Ferris State University, and earned his Juris Doctor degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. Corey and his wife, Heather, also a Cadillac native and Director of Bands at McBain Rural Agricultural School, have three kids and love to take advantage of everything that living in Northern Michigan has to offer.  When they are not at sporting events, they are usually camping, biking, skiing or boating. Community service is very important to Corey, as evidenced by his participation with various community organizations and boards.  Far from a dancer, Corey is both honored and excited to participate this year and help the Y.

Kevin Baker

Kevin was born and raised in Cadillac. Is there a better place to live? He thinks not. Kevin is currently in his 15th year working at Out the Door Rent to Own. It’s been a great experience for him and continues to be rewarding as the time flies by. Kevin says he is truly fortunate to be able to work where he does with all of his amazing co-workers. He has been with his wife, Christina, for over 16 years. He finally got his poop in a group and married her two years ago. They have two amazing children, Shelby and Reed. Kevin thanks his family for their support and allowing him the time to participate in this amazing experience. He also thanks the many family members and friends who have encouraged him.

Shari Spoelman

Having grown up on the west side of the state, Shari considers herself a Lake Michigan gal and enjoys spending her free time hiking the dunes. But free time is sometimes hard to find. In addition to her position as a Michigan State University Extension District Director covering administrative responsibilities for seven counties, she also serves as a council member and Mayor Pro Tem for the city of Cadillac. Shari enjoys creative outlets through sewing and painting. In October last year, she picked up a ukulele for the first time, took lessons, and hasn’t put it down since. Having music in her life has been a positive addition. Shari is an avid Jazzerciser and loves to dance. In the winter she finds time to enjoy skiing in the mountains. Shari is married to Gary VanHouten and has two adult children, Aaron and Corinne Schneider.

Vicky Ball

Vicky was born in Mt. Pleasant and moved to Cadillac with her husband, Chris, in 2008. With her vast experiences in the Real Estate Industry, from being a realtor to working at a title company, she is currently helping people reach the “American Dream” of becoming a home owner, working as a loan officer at Caliber Home Loans, Inc. Dance has always been a big part of her life, Vicky started dancing when she was just five years old and tapped, leaped and twirled her way through high school. Her oldest daughter, Emily, has carried on the dancing tradition, dancing at the Landing Dance Academy. When she isn’t driving to and from the dance studio, Vicky can be found out on the soccer field Coaching her other daughter, Kimberly’s, CASA soccer team. Vicky is very excited for the opportunity to dust off her old dance shoes and help raise money for such a great cause!

Traci Warner

Service above self is a strong core value of Traci’s.  She is an active Rotarian serving on many committees helping to make her community a better place.  Giving back and leaving a positive legacy are very important to Traci.  When Traci is not working as a hygienist and office manager for the successful dental practice that she is part of, you can find her spending time with her friends and family.  Traci is grateful to have her son, Nick, and daughter-in-law, Ashley, living close to her so that she can spend time with them and her granddaughter, Jessa, who is the bright star in grandma’s world. Making time for daily exercise is important to Traci and this allows her to re-calibrate from her busy days along with keeping her on track for a healthy lifestyle.  Traci is hopeful that her cheerleading experience will help to bring an exciting vibe to this great event!

Jason Johnston

Jason was born the son of indentured servants in the tiny village of St. Joe, Michigan.  Early on, it was evident he had an unprecedented connection to the dance force and he would go on to hone these skills as a pod racer on the planet Tatooine under the tutelage of Jedi Master, Alicia Elmore.  His skills as a craftsman eventually helped him earn his way to freedom where he went on to marry the love of his life, Amanda, a young senator from the Naboo, in a secret ceremony in Weatherford, Texas.  He is the father of 3 children, Vance, Reed and Brandt.  Together with (now) Emperor Amanda, he rules over the galaxy and currently serves as a Jedi Master at Cadillac Innovation High School. In his off time, he enjoys playing hockey, taking his custom tie fighter on joyrides and force choking rebel scum

Lori Noaker

Lori was born and raised in Cadillac. She spent five years in the UP for college and skied on the NMU Alpine ski team. She moved back to Cadillac where she nannied for years before teaching at St. Ann School as a pre-school director. She’s been teaching for 10 years and loves her job! She has two amazing kiddos; Henrik is eight and Hadley is four and a half (that half is very important to her). She loves spending time with her kids and they enjoy being outdoors; skiing, camping, hiking, baseball and spending time at the beach. Lori loves being around friends and family. She loves laughing, adventures, and is incredibly thankful for her tribe!

Chris Brinks

Chris is a Cadillac native who works at Peterson Funeral and Cremation Services in Cadillac. Chris and his   wife, Megan, have two children, Harper and Chase, who keep them on their toes. In his spare time, Chris enjoys all the projects his wife thinks he should do. After that, if there is time, he likes to go fishing and hunting. Although Chris knows Dancing with the Y Stars will be a big commitment, he is looking forward to giving back to community in the form of dance. He is hopeful that this is the first stepping stone towards his national debut for Dancing with the Stars on ABC.

Jamie Thompson

Jamie Thompson grew up in Sault Ste. Marie and moved to Cadillac in 2007. She is the Executive Producer of ‘the four’ on 9&10 News. Jamie is also a busy mom of 2 boys, Jack and Liam, and a dog named Echo. Jamie is excited to be a part of Dancing with the Y Stars and being able to connect with the Cadillac community. Keeping active is something that is very important to her and her family, and she is beyond happy to be able to help others become part of the Cadillac YMCA as well. Jamie wants to extend a special thank you to everyone who has supported her in this adventure – especially choreographer Hannah Sengelaub and partner Kevin Baker – and her family and friends who are cheering them on!

Beth Rzepka-Alto

Beth grew up in the Cadillac area, spent eleven years at the University of Michigan and then returned to Cadillac in 2005. She is a pediatrician at Mackinaw Trail Pediatrics and at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital. She is married to none other than the emcee, Dan Alto, and together they have three children, Ashley, Hailey and Alexis. Beth has very mixed feelings about dance: she absolutely loves watching her daughters’ recitals, she’s ambivalent about driving them to and from practice and she detests the idea of dancing herself. I guess you could say her relationship with dance is complicated.

Laura Powell

Laura grew up here in Northern Michigan and has always loved travel and dance. She graduated from Anderson University with a degree in Modern Foreign Languages and spent a year as a foreign exchange student in Ecuador.  Her love for Latin culture led her to take her family recently on an epic adventure living for a two months in Guatemala in 2019 learning immersion Spanish together and exploring the culture where two of her children were adopted from.  She is a homeschooling mom who loves Jesus, reading a good book on the front porch, and naptime.  She comes from a large family and has five awesome kids.  She may or may not have signed up for this experience solely to spend time with her wonderful husband and of course raise money for a great organization!

Scott Powell

Scott is a Manton native and a 5th generation farmer in Missaukee County. He and his lovely bride and dance partner, Laura, homeschool their five children ages 5-14. Scott worked in higher education throughout the Midwest for several years, but in 2011 he took off his tie and gave up college for conifers when he became the Nursery Manager at Dutchman Tree Farms, running the family farms' bare root nursery and Christmas wreaths/greenery operations. While being known to have two left feet, it has never slowed (nor shied) Scott away from an impromptu dance or lip sync. If he is not in the tree fields, you can often find Scott globetrotting in some remote village in a distant country, hauling kids and horses to a rodeo, or finding some other way to spend time with his amazing family.

James Curtis

James Curtis is the director of communications at Wolverine Power Cooperative. A native metro-Detroiter and Michigan State University alum, James, his wife, Katelyn, and daughter, Charlie Fay, have proudly called Cadillac home since 2017. When he's not exploring the northern Michigan wilderness with his family, he's often creating music, art, poetry, and performing and volunteering with the Cadillac Footliters. James is exceedingly proud to represent his Wolverine family and raise support for the YMCA at this event!

Craig Baas

Craig was born and raised in Cadillac and a graduate of Cadillac High School in 2005. He attended Lake Superior State University where he played tennis and double majored in management and marketing. Craig received his MBA from Concordia University in Nebraska while coaching their men’s and women’s tennis teams. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Amanda, for 9 years and they spend most of their time chasing after their 3 year old daughter, Aubrey. Craig and his brother, Jeff, own Montage Media Films and Mi Virtual Tours. Montage Media Films specializes in promotional business videos, special events and weddings. Mi Virtual Tours specializes in real estate marketing, drone and interactive 360 degree virtual tours.

Derek Larrance

Derek has lived in Cadillac since the 2nd grade. He met his wife, Becky, of 27 years in the marching band while attending Cadillac Senior High. They both attended Ferris State University for their bachelors and master’s degrees. He has been involved in several businesses and currently owns his own business operating a tool truck in the Northwest lower peninsula. He is also part owner of a blueberry farm that is operated by his wife’s family in the summers. After 20 years of leotards, smelly shoes, bobby pins everywhere and recitals from his daughter Mackenzie (some other choreographer), he’s decided to get on stage himself and show her where she didn’t get her talent from. Derek enjoys spending time at the ice rink and attending as many Special Olympics events as possible with his son Corbin. P.S., don’t forget to wish Becky a happy 50th birthday on October 13th.

Casey Boyer

Casey was born and raised in Junction City, KS. After working and serving in the Army Reserves in Kansas he moved to Michigan to attend Ferris State University where he obtained his degree in Finance. He then moved to Cadillac in 2016. He enjoys spending time on the lakes, golfing, camping, fishing, and attending community events. Casey is a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones and serves as an Officer in the National Guard in Cadillac. He enjoys helping people reach their financial goals and serving his country. He is currently engaged to Gabe Werth and they have two dogs Broker and Bailey.

Isabel Borgstrom

Dancing has always been a wonderful part of my life. As a young girl in Colombia I spent many hours rehearsing dance numbers and soaking up the culture and movements, which now, I incorporate into my dance routines. My Latin roots have been seen around the community in the several performances that I have done myself, but also with local band musicians.

I am a former educator, which I think, give me the edge needed to win this competition. I apply many of my learned techniques into each task ahead of me. I have been part of the community of Cadillac for over a decade. Friends and family are a huge portion of my life, and my husband and son are my greatest treasures. Being able to participate in Dancing with the Y over the 4 past years has been such a great experience, and humbling at the same time. Each dance couple I help poses new opportunities to stretch me as a choreographer, and this year I expect to be just as great!

Mackenzie Larrance

I am native of Northern Michigan and have been dancing for eighteen years. I graduated Interlochen Arts Academy in 2014 and while there, I performed in Giselle, Swan Lake, and The Nutcracker. In addition, I have performed Martha Graham’s Panorama at the Joyce Theater in New York City and while in Paris I took company class with the Paris Opera Ballet. I currently study at the University of Michigan to earn a BFA as Dance Major with a minor in costume design. I have studied various techniques such as Humphrey Limon, Congolese, improvisation and composition. For the past six years, I have taught regionally and volunteer time to mentor and choreograph for Winter Guards in Michigan and Indiana. I hope to share my knowledge of the arts to Northern Michigan as well as continue to learn. I would like to give a special thanks to my parents and brother who have supported me throughout the years and Chandlar R. Gabara for helping me throughout this process.

Alicia Elmore

I have lived in the Cadillac area for 13 years where I work as a physician at Family Practice of Cadillac. Dance has been an important part of my life since the age of three when I started taking Tap, Jazz, and Ballet lessons and continued for many years. I competed on a dance team called “The Thunderbirds” and then continued my dance training at Hope College. After moving to Cadillac, I taught ballet/hip hop for a few years but now have turned my time to helping with this event. I have been married to my husband Jason, for 24 years and have three awesome kids, Zach, Anna, and Drew. I love to choreograph and am proud to support the Y in such a fun event.

Bridget Coffey

The Dancing with the Y event is one of my highlights each year! I have participated as a dancer, judge and this is my 3rd year as choreographer. I teaches dance at The Landing Dance Academy and I am Cadillac High School’s Musical Choreographer. In the past you may know me from my baking business, Megan’s Cupcakes. However, I hung up my apron after publishing a cookbook sharing all of the recipes titled, “Adventures of the Chief Cupcake, revealing secrets from the kitchen of Megan’s Cupcakes.”

I graduated from Cadillac High School, and married my high-school sweetheart, David Coffey. After earning a BA from Western Michigan University with a minor in dance, I spent the next 20 years in Metropolitan Detroit and Miami. I am happy to have made Cadillac home again for the last 9 years. I am a mother of two, Tim, a senior at CHS and Megan, her 7th grade dancing daughter. When I am not in the kitchen or dancing, I love to read and seek adventure in the outdoors with my family and black lab Winston.

Hannah Sengelaub

I may be newer to the Cadillac Area, but I’ve quickly made it home sweet home. I can either be found serving up the latest and tastiest craft brews at Clam Lake Beer Company or dancing/teaching my heart out with the little dancers of The Landing Dance Academy. Dancing has and always will continue to be such a huge part of my life. Whether it was studying at Rhythmic Sky Studios in Big Rapids, or performing with local theaters, I had my parents constantly on the run, in their efforts of pursuing my passion. After graduating high school I continued my dance education with NMC's open dance group. There I was exposed to the world of partner dancing, and quickly fell in love with dance all over again. With experience in dance styles such as jazz, tap, contemporary, lyrical, ballet, blues and hip-hop I am over the moon excited to be creating a piece for such a great cause.

Tiffany Rice

I am on faculty at the Landing Dance Academy in downtown Cadillac and at Dance Arts Academy in Traverse City. I recently wed her middle school crush, Evan Rice and we have had our first child. Conveniently, Evan is the son of the prominent Julie Rice who has established herself in the area as an excellent dance instructor. I am hoping to ride Julie’s reputable coat-tails with her newly acquired last name. When I am not teaching or driving, I enjoy drinking coffee, and snuggling our new bundle. Most the time I am grateful for how blessed I am.

Sara Roorda

Sara Roorda

Sara Roorda is originally from Grand Rapids, MI.  Her love of dance and music started right away, leaping and twirling through the halls at home when she was just 5 years old.  After many years of begging, her mother put her into formal dance classes at the age of twelve, and she started teaching classes shortly thereafter.  While earning her bachelor’s degree at Hope College, she continued her dance training at the college level.  Shortly after graduation, she worked as an auditor at BDO Seidman, LLP for five years where she learned a lot about different businesses all over the world.  During that time she was swept off her feet by the love of her life, Jason Roorda, and moved to Cadillac to start their life and family together.  While in Cadillac she bumped into her dance friend from college, Lindsay Rumohr, and they decided to open a studio together.  She is the proud mom of Maverick and Madelyn.  Sara currently works at Groupe Beneteau …and a few hours a week for Lindsay at the Landing Dance Academy.

Melissa Kendall

Melissa danced and performed in her younger years and has resurrected her love of performing by acting, singing, dancing, choreographing, and directing with the Cadillac Footliters, Dancing with the Y Stars, and the United Way Murder Mystery. She is thrilled to be involved with Dancing with the Y Stars again, and happy to be active in organizations that help to impact our community in a positive way.

Neisha Hibbs

Growing up on Route 66 in the small town of Pontiac, Illinois, Neisha found her love of dance, theatre, oldies music, and old cars. Since age three, Neisha has been on stage dancing, acting, and singing. The love of dance continued and became a dream for her to own her own dance studio. That dream came true in 2001 when Neisha opened Neisha’s Dance Sensations…where every person was a sensation. In 2005, her family moved to Cadillac for her husband’s job. That move started a tour of states for them. From Michigan to Biloxi, Mississippi where their twin boys were born…back up to Cookeville, Tennessee where she was in a couple of movies, commercials and even had the privilege of swing dancing with her husband in a flash mob dance to Josh Turners “Why Don’t We Just Dance” at the Nashville Predators game and at Opry Mills Mall before making it back up here to Michigan.  Neisha & her husband George live in Cadillac with their four children.

Katy Huckle

Katy Huckle

When asked if I would participate this year with the Dancing with the Y, I had no hesitation in saying, “I would love to help with such a great cause and mission that the Y provides for our community.” Spending time investing in the greater Cadillac Community is what I would consider one of my larges passions, because many wonderful cause’s that are here. When I’m not on stage introducing these lovely dancers, I am four season runner but truth be told snow runs my favorite. I can also be found in my kitchen cooking or baking while entertaining my family and friends. I am married to Chris and mother to Tommy and Susie. I have been in banking for over 20 years and am proud to have opened an office for Independent Bank in downtown Cadillac. There are many local boards of directors that I have helped on in the past and continue to help to date. A quote I live by is “To whom much is given, much is expected” -Rosemary Kennedy. I work daily to live my faith and help others. And I have raised my children to do the same.

Dan Alto

My wife, Dr. Elizabeth Rzepka-Alto and I reside on Lake Cadillac with our three beautiful children. Most days I can be found in my residence (aka on my deck) handling day to day activities (aka kickin’ it in my easy chair). I proudly hold the title of ‘Super Dad’, by my four lovely ladies. When I get the chance, which is at least 3 days a week, I take a little ‘ME’ time and enjoy some pickleball at the YMCA or shooting some hoops. This is the second year I have been asked to Emcee the Dance with the Y event, and with such an exquisite co-host and for the great cause, I wouldn’t be in my right mind to say no. I am honored to be a part of something so great. So sit back, kick back, and enjoy the show.
