Get away from it all for a week at Camp Torenta this summer! Each camp day is packed full of programs and activities. Swimming. Boating. Hiking. Cookouts. Arts and Crafts. Archery. Sports. Games. Campfires. Special Events. All on the beautiful Lake Mitchell shoreline.
The YMCA at Camp Torenta is a great friendship place where you’ll have fun, learn responsibility, thrive on teamwork and grow in consideration of others. Activities with new friends and terrific staff combines to create memories that will last a lifetime.

Each session is geared to encourage participation, expose campers to new experiences and above all teach character development and values that last a lifetime: caring, honesty, respect and responsibility, plus a sense of fun.
All campers receive individual attention at every level, because the camps maintain a ratio of eight campers or fewer per staff member.
Four weeks of resident camp are offered in 2007. Summer camp at Camp Torenta is a local tradition – here’s your chance to create your own memories. Resident camp weeks begin at check-in Sunday evening and wrap-up on Friday with a family dinner cookout at 4:30 p.m. In addition to all the activities available during day camp there are those special experiences only available at an overnight camp.
CAMP STAFF
The YMCA at Camp Torenta Staff are carefully screened for working with children. The camp is under the leadership and supervision of YMCA Program Director, Michael Kelso and YMCA Executive Director, Chris Gentry. Both have extensive camp and youth work experience. Ryan Davis serves as our Camp Program Director and brings a wide variety of camp and outdoor leadership to the program. Counselors are at least eighteen years of age.
The staff team participates in a week- long staff training and orientation session. All staff are certified in CPR and First Aid. The waterfront staff are all currently certified in Life guarding. Regular staff team meetings are conducted throughout the summer to coordinate programs and communication.
FRIDAY FAMILY COOKOUT
On Friday join us for dinner! The whole family is invited for a camp cookout. Campers stay at camp to prepare for the arrival of their families for dinner at 4:30 p.m. It’s free for immediate family members – just let us know how many are coming. You’ll get to meet the staff, enjoy camp activities and share a meal on the shores of Lake Mitchell! |
